Writers:Is anyone of your characters a singer?

None of my main characters are singers, but I will have to write some songs to incorporate into the story as in ballads and riddles. The only thing I remember is songs are basically poetry to music. I can write poetry, which somehow makes it easier to write a song. I would suggest possibly picking up a rhyming dictionary for extra help.
